An eight-member ODC formed for EMC: .NET development of a event management product.(September 19, 2008)
Another ODC contract has been signed in September between Shinetech and Event Management Communication (EMC), a market leading software company in the United Kingdom, providing online management systems for conference, tradeshow and exhibition organizers since 1999.
Due to EMC’s rapidly expanding business it has decided to set up an offshore team using Shinetech resources, under the control of its in-house project management team, to maintain and optimize its core Java system, whilst migrating parts of it from J2EE into ASP.NET (C#) and integrating it with various separate modules that have been developed in ASP.NET. Owing to its large number of international users, the system is required to support multiple languages, currencies and browsers. Data input adopts CSV/XML with management reports generating multiple formats which include PDF/CSV/HTML/XML.
EMC requires strong security of code and IP as well as a high level of physical security of the development equipment and infrastructure. In addition, excellent English skills and access for occasional face-to-face meetings, both in the UK and in China, are a must for the chosen developers at Shinetech.
Eight staff have been involved in the projects altogether: one consultant, one QA, and six developers. Five projects are scheduled to be completed in December this year.
The skills required for this development include ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server 2000/2005, Windows Server 2000/2003, J2EE (using EJBs), Javascript, VisualStudio 2003/2005, SVN.
