A US- based company who is a leading provider of professional full-service globalization solutions. It focuses primarily on services such as localization, translation, internationalization etc.

What the Client Wanted
With the popularity of internet throughout the world, non-English speaking world with demand on new technologies that include sophisticated multimedia productions, software and web-based learning programs exponentially joins the internet classroom environment. To meet the tremendous requirement and expand its marketing area, the client turned to Shinetech to localize an e-learning courseware into multiple target languages like French, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, and Germany etc.

Approach

• With a goal to make the localized courses in harmony with the local language and culture as well as maintain the strong point of the original one like usability, reliability and a good visual effect, Shinetech's localization engineers adhered to client's requirements at every stage of the whole lifecycle by communicating effectively with the client to ensure that all final output was exactly what the client wanted.
• In the process of implementing the localization, the proper processing tool was adopted to do some editing and adjustment work to optimize and finalize the files. Then our engineers actively integrated required materials into the e-learning courses, eg. flash files, to show the tutorial well.
• Before each course, the engineers scanned the learning points that needed to be localized and communicated with each other to ensure the proper operation of the involved contents in e-learning courses;   
• Since the client had special project process himself, we arranged the engineers to study and deliver sample according to the instruction provided by the client starting from the beginning, and with the client’s confirmation, we then trained the involved staff and soon after launched the project; 

However, these were only a portion of the whole localization development

- According to the checklist, our testers dedicated to test work of the localized courses on required platform and the subtle integration problems were thereby tracked down and eliminated to ensure that the courses would work as well as it appeared.

- Version control is crucial in team work, especially in localization which involves a mass of course versions. To avoid version and code confusion which may arise from continued version generation during the localization engineering, VSS (Visual SourceSafe) as a management tool was adopted to get a handle on version control and code management to make the whole team work in harmony.

With this successful cooperation, Shinetech gained strong confidence from the client and continued the partnership with the client on quite a large number of localization projects consequently.
